Would you like to researching your family history
and join
one of the largest worldwide hobbies: Be warned that this can become quite
an addictive passion! But you can spend as much or as little time on it
as your lifestyle permits.
Some individuals see researching
their past as producing a simple tree: following the male line - the
production of a pedigree. As family historians we believe that a simple
tree or pedigree does not tell you the history
of the family…the stories of lives in the past.
Family history means putting the meat on the bones and getting to know your
ancestors, where they lived, how they lived, what they did, when
– and why.
It is detective work to discover who were their neighbours,
what their lives were like, where they worshipped and how most of the locals
lived. It is the discovering of your roots: roots of a tree that will take
you in many directions, using many different types of resources and each
producing another piece in your puzzle.
